2016 - 2017

Background: during 2016-17 the DfE will be again allocating each school a Sports Premium Hindley Junior and Infant School Total Sports Premium received ?8,865.00

Objectives:
1. To make use of specialist coaches to deliver sessions alongside staff so that the staff are up-skilled
2. To improve the PE and school sport resources and storage so all children have access to good quality equipment
3. To enable children from across the school to participate in regular intra and inter school sports events
4. To celebrate all PE and sports events with the local community
5. To create a sustainable improvement to the schools PE provision and be able to account for the use of the money

Intended impact

Hire qualified sports coaches from Academy of Sports to work alongside teachers when teaching PE.

To increase teachers subject knowledge and confidence in PE

 

Sports coaches from Academy of Sports deliver PE lessons alongside our teachers and support staff. This initiative will benefit all children from the Year 1 to Year 6.

In Y1, Y2 and Y4 pupils will receive one PE lesson taught by the coach which is observed by the teacher. Then a follow up lesson delivered by the teacher and observed by the specialist coach. There is opportunity at the end of the sessions for informal feedback and the sharing of good practice.

In Y3, Y5, and Y6 pupils will receive one PE lesson taught by the teacher, and a second lesson delivered by the specialist coach observed by the teacher. There is opportunity at the end of the sessions for informal feedback and the sharing of good practice.

The cost for 2016/17 is as follows
?4,450.00 (Apr-Sept)
?2,800.00 (Oct-Jan)
?1,400.00 (Feb-March)

Total cost ?8,650.00

Pupils access high quality coaching via fully qualified coaches in a variety of sports.

Expert coaching will lead to an improvement in the children's confidence and overall performance level.

Expert coaching will lead to an improvement in teacher knowledge and confidence for future learning and teaching sessions.

Increase in children's confidence and self-esteem.

Buying into existing local sports networks (HIPSA)

Provide regular sports tournaments, festivals and competitions for pupils of all ages

Provide transport to enable pupils to participate in tournaments and festivals;

Increasing participation in school sport competitions.

School pays an annual fee of ?100.00 into the local sports network (Hindley, Ince and Platt Bridge Sporting Association) which provides sporting competitions across all year groups.

This was paid for two years in 2015-16.

School provides transport both to and from tournaments/festivals.

The total cost for 2016/17 is predicted at ?135.00

60% of 5 - 11 year olds will take part in at least one inter school sports competition during 2016-17.

Strong, sustainable partnerships with local community sports clubs leads to sporting pathways for children to increase their participation to beyond the school offer.

Increase in children's confidence and self-esteem.
